Quarterly Free Family Days
First free family day: March 22
Sharon L. Miller and family have pledged $1 million to endow quarterly free days at the Portland Art Museum. The Museum will schedule these free days in conjunction with its quarterly Museum Family Days. On these days the Museum offers a variety of activities to engage children and families. The days are themed around special exhibitions or permanent collections. The first free family day will be on March 22 when the Museum is presenting a Museum Family Day around La volupte du gout: French Painting in the Age of Madame de Pompadour. The day will include free admission, painting, performances by Oregon Ballet Theatre, and 18th-century costumes. The Museum will be open from noon to 5 p.m. with activities beginning at 1 p.m.
The gift from the Miller family is the most recent pledge to the Museum’s Art Access endowment. The goal of the endowment is to provide free admission for children, school groups, and regularly scheduled free admission periods for adults and families.
