Accessibility
The Portland Art Museum welcomes all visitors and affirms its commitment to making its programs and collections accessible to everyone. The Museum offers a variety of programs and services to ensure a quality experience and a safe, inclusive environment for every member of our diverse community.
If you require assistance during your visit, a Guest Services associate, security officer, or Museum volunteer is happy to help. All programs and services are free with Museum admission unless otherwise noted.
Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Visitors
Assisted-listening devices are available for all lectures, and sign language interpreters are available if requested two or three weeks in advance.
Blind and Partially Sighted Visitors
Beginning in June 2008, the Museum will offer docent tours with extended visual descriptions for blind and partially sighted visitors on the second Friday of each month. Tours may incorporate tactile objects and materials to help provide an understanding of the different styles and materials used by artists.
Adult and school group tours for the blind and partially sighted are available by request. Please arrange your tour four to six weeks in advance.
Service animals are welcome to accompany visitors.
Visitors with Limited Mobility
The Museum is wheelchair accessible. Enter via the ramp at the Hoffman entrance, adjacent to the Sculpture Mall on the north side of the Museum. Wheelchairs are available free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis, at the Hoffman entrance box office.
All restrooms are wheelchair accessible and all galleries are accessible via elevators. Please ask a Guest Services associate to point out elevator locations on the Museum map when you arrive.
Transportation assistance is available through TriMet's network of fully accessible bus and MAX lines and its LIFT service, which is available for trips where a disability prevents the use of bus or MAX.
