The Portland Art Museum wants to start an open discussion with Disabled and Deaf community members about the museum’s accessibility. To do this we have created an online survey and a series of community dialogues to take place in August. The survey and dialogue sessions will help guide the future of accessibility at the museum.

Come to a Community Dialogue

There will be two public community dialogues. One will be hosted at Portland Community College’s Southeast Campus on August 1st and the other will be hosted at the Portland Art Museum on August 7th. Each session will last two hours and will be co-hosted with museum staff, volunteers, and Disabled community members.

Access

The museum hopes to provide meaningful access to allow the inclusion of as many people as possible. Each community dialogue will include ASL interpretation, amplification, assisted listening devices, video streaming, a relaxed meeting structure, a secondary low-stimulation and low-light quiet room, and wheelchair accessible meeting locations and bathrooms. These sessions are fragrance free, please do not wear scents such as essential oils, perfumes, or use scented shampoos prior to attending.
