Art & Conversation: The Etchings of Whistler and His Circle
Please note: There will be no coffee portion in September. The lecture will begin at 10:15 a.m. in the Whitsell Auditorium, Main Building. Those attending the lecture are also welcome to explore the galleries after the talk.
Join us the third Thursday of every month for coffee and conversation followed by a lecture or film screening. This month, Mary Weaver Chapin, Ph.D., Curator of Prints and Drawings, will discuss The Etchings of Whistler and His Circle, an exhibition of etchings by James McNeill Whistler and other artists such as Otto Henry Bacher, Frank Duveneck, James McBey, and Joseph Pennell, who were influenced by Whistler’s lyrical, atmospheric style and delicate tonal harmonies.
This series is free for adults 62 and over and is made possible through the Marguerite and Harry Kendall Education Fund. Additional support comes from Rick and Erika Miller.
The Portland Art Museum is pleased to offer accommodations to ensure that our programs are accessible and inclusive. All spaces for this program are accessible by wheelchair. Assistive listening devices are also available for the lecture.
