Gabe Flores’ work often deals with reflections on identity-based ideologies and personal narrative. He thinks of his projects as explorations in sociology and political theory. Flores was curator and director of Place, which he co-founded with Gary Wiseman, from June 2010 to March 2014. Flores recently ended a two-year exhibition project, Surplus Space, co-founded with Tabitha Nikolai, which utilized each room of a small Northeast Portland home.
