Artist Talk: Robert Tyree
Robert Tyree dances, writes and educates. He has performed original choreography in the U.S. and Europe and has worked with a number of Portland choreographers, including Tahni Holt and Linda Austin. His earliest dance work pursued a concept of intensive dance—discos with Deleuze, lofting with Lacan—through performance and publication. Between 2011 and 2013, Tyree developed a series of collaborative works with Romanian poet Andra Rotaru under the title Lemur. Tyree is co-director of FRONT, a newspaper devoted to writing from the field of contemporary dance. His writing on performance has been published online through Claudia La Rocco’s Performance Club and the Portland Institute for Contemporary Art.
