The Portland Art Museum will celebrate its 129th birthday by welcoming all visitors for free on December 12, 2021. The Museum was founded as the Portland Art Association on December 12, 1892, and for well over a century it has been a cultural cornerstone of the city and region, connecting its communities through exceptional art experiences and engagement opportunities. After these many long COVID-19 months, it’s fitting to celebrate such longevity by welcoming back the Museum’s first quarterly Miller Family Free Day since the start of the pandemic.

Like many nonprofit organizations, the Museum has relied on the generous support of donors big and small to survive the pandemic thus far. Because gifts of all sizes make free days, field trips, admission access programs, and more possible, the Museum is encouraging birthday gifts! In honor of PAM’s birthday, four of the Museum’s longtime supporters, Linda & Scott Andrews and Dan Bergsvik & Don Hastler, have offered to match all gifts up to $10,000 received before December 31, 2021.

Visitors and supporters are invited to give onsite or online in honor of this moment of rebuilding and reconnecting with art and each other. In addition, a limited-time matching incentive means that gifts can go further.

Reserve Tickets

  • Timed entry tickets for the December 12 Miller Family Free Day need to be reserved online in advance of visiting. Tickets include access to Queen Nefertari’s Egypt and Private Lives: Home and Family in the Art of the Nabis, Paris, 1889–1900.
  • A limited number of tickets will be available on-site, on a first-come-first-served basis, for individuals who are not able to access tickets online.
