Improv at $5 After 5

Join us this Friday for an evening of improv from Kickstand Comedy. Beginning at 6 p.m., the actors will be prompted by short talks about works of art in our collection. The works and themes are a surprise so that the actors are totally on the spot! It’s a fun way to learn about our collection with a laugh. Improv at the Museum is sponsored by Lagunitas Brewing.

These friendly and knowledgeable art dealers welcome your questions, offering an exciting opportunity for both novice and expert collectors to peruse and purchase original prints for their collections.

Public Annex’s Contemporary Trends Class

We Construct Marvels Between MonumentsAs part of the ongoing programming for We. Construct. Marvels. Between. Monuments., Public Annex leads a monthly Contemporary Trends class, free and open to the public, at Portland Art Museum, exploring a different section of the Museum each month, creating a space for discovery and discussion amongst people who identify with and without disability. The program will take place on Free First Thursday evenings from 5-7 p.m.

Please meet in the Hoffman Lobby (entrance near the Museum Shop).

Create with artists and designers. Explore the exhibitions Animating Life: The Art, Science, and Wonder of LAIKA, Kingdom Animalia, and so much more. See films made by Northwest teens. Make art, make friends, and have fun!

Admission is FREE! Refreshments provided.

Middle school, high school, and college-age are all welcome. GSA/QSA advisors and teachers are welcome, too.

Take a break from your workday on the second Wednesday of the month and join a curator, museum educator, artist, or local scholar for a 45-minute talk in the galleries. This month, Mark Shapiro of LAIKA will highlight the craft and science behind the work of the Portland-based animation studio.

Space is limited. Advance tickets recommended. Program departs from the Main Entrance Lobby.
