Journal On!

Collage of people holding up their journals.

How we journey through this moment, one page at a time.

How have you made it through this past year, when so much was disrupted, lost, or changed? What new understanding has your journey brought you? Where have you discovered hope, possibility, and connection?

The Portland Art Museum, Portland Public Schools, and OK YOU are assembling one enduring art journal, made up of many, to capture our shared story of this unique moment in history. Whether you follow our prompts or create your own, we hope to see your journal pages in our gallery.

Journal On! And may our journeys bring us all to a place of greater understanding, compassion, and healing.

How to participate

Respond to our new prompts below or to last summer’s prompts under the 2020 tab. Or follow us on Instagram @journal_on_everyone. Scroll down this page to view the gallery and upload an image of your work.

Share your drawings, words, or photos. Use any creative expression you want. If you’re a musician, dancer, or other kind of artist that doesn’t fit on a page, we’d love to see your process or creation captured in your journal.

If you’d like to make your own art journal using materials around your house, here’s how. If you have any questions about this project, please contact Hana Layson, Head of Youth and Educator Programs.

¿Dónde has descubierto esperanza, posibilidad y conexión?
