Last weekend marked the opening of the anticipated of Native Fashion Now exhibition, which is on display until September 4th. Native Fashion Now is a celebration of contemporary Native American fashion from indigenous designers from across the United States and Canada from the 1950s to today.

Museum goers were struck with a multi-sensory experience of vibrant colors, textures, metal works, and sounds enveloping them into the multi-faceted world of Native fashion. The exhibition illuminates nearly 100 works from 71 designers, spanning the past half-century. It explores the vitality of Native fashion designers and artists, from pioneering style-makers to today’s maverick designers making their mark in today’s world of fashion.

Fourteen of the designers made the trip to Portland to take part in opening weekend festivities, which included a reception, opening lecture, and Pop-Up Boutique.
