The Photography Council, working with the Curator of Photography, regularly brings internationally renowned photographers and historians to the Museum for public and private events funded by council dues and community partnerships. Since its founding in 2001, the council has sponsored special programs with David Byrne, John Sexton, Steve Shapiro, Joyce Tenneson, Jerry Uelsmann, and more.

Many council members are photographers and collectors; special events include opportunities to share artwork with other members.
