The Portland Art Museum and Northwest Film Center welcomed two dynamic community leaders to its Board of Trustees last week during its virtual annual meeting—Mary Boyle and Kaberi Banerjee Murthy.
“We are so glad to welcome Mary and Kaberi to our Portland Art Museum community,” said Museum Director Brian Ferriso. “Our board, staff, and the broader community will benefit from their combined experience in philanthropy and education and their demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion and the arts.”
Mary Boyle is a community leader, philanthropist, and lifelong Portlander. Her interests range from education to the arts, from social service agencies to children’s issues. She currently serves on the boards of The University of Portland and De La Salle High School. Mary has served on the boards of Portland Center Stage, St. Mary’s Academy, YWCA, the Oregon College of Arts and Crafts, Children First, St. Mary’s Home for Boys, Outward Bound, and Jesuit High School. She is married to Columbia Sportswear President Tim Boyle and has two grown children.
Kaberi Banerjee Murthy is the Director of Programs and Strategy at Meyer Memorial Trust. She previously served as the Vice President of Programs at the Brooklyn Community Foundation in New York; Program Director for Education, Civic Affairs and Arts & Culture at Crown Family Philanthropies in Chicago; Senior Education Program Officer at the Picower Foundation in New York; Education Program Officer for Jane’s Trust and The Jessie B. Cox Charitable Trust in Boston; and Program Officer for Education, Health, Community Development and Arts at Lloyd A. Fry Foundation in Chicago. Murthy also serves on the National Board of Neighborhood Funders Group and Philanthropy Northwest and is the Racial Justice Co-chair and National Steering Committee for the Education Funder Strategy Group. She is also a photographer, bookbinder, and letterpress artist, and lives in Portland with her husband and two sons.
Returning trustees Selby Key, Steven McGeady, April Sanderson, and Bob Warren were also elected, along with a new slate of board officers including Chair, Alix Goodman; Vice-Chair, Angela Snow; Treasurer, Jin Park; and Secretary, Mary Lee Boklund.
