Talk by historian and cultural promoter Guillermo Marín together with Luz Carmen de Marín.
1:30 – 3:30 p.m.
Whitsell Auditorium, Main Building, Lower Level

Death has been a fundamental part of the history, philosophy and culture of the Anahuac Civilization. The God and Goddess of Death, Mictlantecuhtli and Mictlantecihuatl respectively, as well as the Mictlán, occupy a very important place in the mythical Toltecáyotl.
From the archaeological zone of Mitla in Oaxaca, as well as the Huehuetlactolli, Mexican songs, to the traditions of the Día de Muertos in popular culture, all speak to deep roots that reflect the essence and identity of the Mexican culture. Guillermo Marín and Luz Carmen de Marín will address death from Toltecáyotl and offer a refreshing and vital angle to increase historical memory and cultural identity.
