Overview

Welcome to PAM CUT @ THE WHITSELL—opening January 10th. Our first screening will be the 2025 U.S. premiere of the evolving audiovisual experience: ★—a cosmic journey through the history of film. Johann Lurf’s epic and ever-expanding piece will be free and looped throughout the day for all museum attendees, inviting audience members to gaze at the night sky and connect with cinema past and present. 

Following this piece, our first film series is an exploration of reality through the lens of Maximalist Dreamspaces. This series is in conversation with the Marco Brambilla exhibit, featured in the Blair Family Gallery adjacent to the theater, which explores the space between dream, memory, and media. The bold, visionary films in this series don’t just show us what is—they construct alternate possibilities, expand our perception of the world, and open portals to entirely new dimensions. PAM CUT programmers Amy Dotson and Joanna Sokolowski worked with creative guest programmers for this inaugural series, including comedian and musician Carrie Brownstein, prolific director Lance Bangs, fashion expert Looks on Screen, writer and content creator Remy Solomon, actor and content creator Michele Venlee, and artists and partners in conjunction with the Black Art and Experiences Gallery.

Inaugural partners include Criterion, sharing giveaways of iconic films from its Collection and access to the Criterion Channel throughout the opening.

PAM CUT’s Whitsell reopening is more than a launch; it’s an invitation to come see what’s new. An invitation to dream, to expand the possibilities of who and what shape our realities, and to create something entirely new. Together, let’s imagine what a new theater, a new museum, and a shared future can look like.
