Celebrate the stillness and beauty of winter in this hands-on, creative workshop inspired by the exhibition Forming Nature, Nature Formed. We’ll begin with a guided visit to the Portland Art Museum, taking time to look closely at sculptures that draw from the shapes, textures, and surfaces of the natural world. From weathered patinas to organic forms, these works invite slow looking and quiet reflection.
Back in the studio, participants will translate these observations into sculptural dried floral arrangements. Using a curated selection of dried flowers, grasses, seed pods, and small natural objects, you’ll experiment with color, texture, balance, and form to create an arrangement that feels both expressive and contemplative. Led by Portland-based creative Bianca Sparta of Colibri, a floral studio known for its wild, eclectic designs, this workshop invites you to emphasize process over perfection. Participants will leave with a sculptural arrangement—and a deeper appreciation for winter’s restrained palette and organic forms.
All supplies provided, session will begin at Portland Art Museum. Participants will leave with a container, their floral arrangement, and the skills to create more!
