Unlock Your Youth’s Creativity with Our Stop Motion Animation Workshop!
Is your child fascinated by animated films? Give them the chance to dive into the world of stop motion animation with our exciting 4-part workshop series! Designed for youth animators ages 12-15, this program brings together imagination and teamwork as participants create their own stop motion animation short film.
This program is part of a collaboration with the Metropolitan Youth Symphony and the Young Composers’ Project. Youth animators will not only develop an animated short but also work with youth composers to score the animation. The grand finale will showcase their work on the Newmark Theater’s big screen, accompanied by a live youth symphony performance!
Guided by teaching artist and animator Andrés Eduardo, participants will engage in four interactive sessions where they will:
- Develop Stories and Characters: Learn the art of storyboarding and character development to bring their unique stories to life.
- Explore Different Materials: Experiment with plasticine clay, paper, and wire to discover the best medium for their animation.
- Create Film Elements: Master the skills of making paper cutouts, designing backdrops, and crafting film titles and dialogue.
- Collaborate on a Musical Score: Connect with youth composers in a virtual meeting to inform the musical accompaniment for their animation.
This workshop is more than just an opportunity to explore the art of animation—it’s a chance to make new friends and build valuable skills like communication, negotiation, and collaboration. Don’t miss this amazing opportunity to let your child’s imagination soar through the magic of stop motion animation!
