About the Museum

Founded in 1892, the Portland Art Museum is one of the oldest art museums in the United States and the oldest in the Pacific Northwest. In addition to the permanent collection, we hold special exhibitions that bring the world to Oregon and Oregon to the world. Our campus is a cornerstone of the downtown Portland cultural district. It’s currently under construction for the new Rothko Pavilion — an expansion and renovation project to connect our buildings and create a more accessible experience.
