On Sunday May 17, the Portland Art Museum is opening its doors for Miller Family Free Day in conjunction with Art Museum Day, an international celebration of the importance of museums in our world. In addition to offering access to the galleries and special exhibitions, the Museum will present special family focused programs including Interactive Family Tours at 12:30 and 1:30.

Art Museum Day underscores the critical role art museums play as cultural resources in their communities and celebrates the unique opportunities AAMD member museums offer visitors to engage with works of art. Last year, the Portland Art Museum—along with 180 other AAMD member museums across North America—participated in Art Museum Day.

The Museum invites visitors to share their experiences on Art Museum Day via social media with the hashtag #ArtMuseumDay.

Family programs are generously supported in part by Sharon L. Miller and Family, the Gordon D. Sondland and Katherine J. Durant Foundation, and the Lamb Baldwin Foundation.

This Free Family and Community Day is offered in concert with the Association of Art Museum Directors’ Art Museum Day 2015, part of an international celebration of the importance of museums in our world.
