Portraits
Overview
Join PAM CUT @ The Whitsell for November: Portraits, as we highlight, pay homage to, and consider the portrait genre. It kicks off with a Barbra Streisand classic, What’s Up, Doc? (1972) presented by Film School; stay after the film for a robust discussion of the film, her character, and more! Next up we have the stirring documentary Mary Oliver: Saved by the Beauty of the World (2026), part of the Literary Arts Cover to Cover program. Then, join us for another incredible documentary highlighting an all-time-jazz great, Ornette: Made In America (1985), followed by the stunning camp musical kung fu classic, Berry Gordy’s The Last Dragon (1985). Rounding out the month, we will screen the French romantic comedy portrait, Amélie (2001), and the ultimate cinematic love letter to the magic of the movies, Cinema Paradiso (1988)—as part of our teens + family programming.
